Dear all,
I'm getting creasy with the Track+ installation procedure...
See the problem history :
1- I set up on a XP SP2 computer the track+ 3.2 without any issue... Except that I lost the admin password that I had just changed... So I told me the only thing to do is to deinstall / reinstall the application
What a mistake ! Now nothing is working anymore.

2-It seems the DB is not working, see the above installation log :

C:\Program Files\Firebird\Firebird_1_5\\bin\gsec -user sysdba -password masterkey -display friedj
Database does not exist. Creating from scratch
C:\Program Files\Firebird\Firebird_1_5\\bin\isql.exe -u friedj -p tissi -i "C:\Program Files\Track+\Database\createDB.sql"
Use CONNECT or CREATE DATABASE to specify a database
Statement failed, SQLCODE = -904

unavailable database

unavailable database
Use CONNECT or CREATE DATABASE to specify a database
Use CONNECT or CREATE DATABASE to specify a database

I tried installing a clean version of Firebird BEFORE installing trackplus, but there is no difference.
Any idea ?

Okay, we need to make sure that you stay sane.

Actually, it should cause no problems at all to install Track+ again. We will check in our test setup. However, this would not solve your database problem.

The reason is that the installer first checks if a previous database exists. If it does, it does not create a new one. The uninstaller does not remove the database.

If you really want to start from scratch you would have to run the uninstaller, manually uninstall Firebird and Apache Tomcat, and remove the database, usually under c:\Progam Files\Track+.

Why is this so?

Well, mostly because we have not gotten around to provide options in the uninstaller where one could select to uninstall Firebird, Tomcat, and the database as well. The current implementation is the safe way, because removing the database is a pretty severe operation if you have 5000 issues in there.

Please come back if you need additional help.

By the way, in the FAQs there is a hint what you can do if you lost your admin password and your e-mail setup doesn't work yet.

I'm having exactly the same problem. The installation is failing with exactly the same errors as the OP posted. The only difference is that the errors occured on the first ever Track+ install.

I'm also unable to view the PDF docs to try to sort this out.

The install indicates that it completes successfully (unless you view the details). Attempting to login in to the new installation fails because the gdb file can't be found.

I read here somewhere that installing Firebird first might work better, but honestly, I'm not sure which type of download/install to of Firebird to use.

WinServer2003 is the target system.

Problem solved! After installing Firebird first, I was getting the same errors. On a whim, I set Firebird to run as an application instead of service.

Reinstall of Track+ was successful!

Yes, there have been a few reports that on Windows 200x Server systems Firebird fails to install as a service. I could not find any answers or hints on the internet, even though the same problem has been reported for some other totally unrelated applications.

Thanks for the problem solving hint to install Firebird as an application.

Why wouldn't you be able to view the PDF docs? Could you help me to find this out?

I have no clue. I tried several times to save-target-as and open the downloaded file with AcroRead errors.

I tried again a few minutes later and it started working. Maybe files on the Track+ server were updated in between tries.
