Why Trackplus?

Methodical foundation

Trackplus is based on the state of the art in science, engineering, and management. It implements proven methods for project management and task management. The following standards, documents, models, and methods have been considered in Trackplus:

The advantages of the solid methodical foundation of Trackplus often appear only after some time of using the tool. These methods are based on experiences and research which have been collected and conducted over many years in various areas of product and process development. After using the tool for some time you will experience how well conceived everything is.

Easy text formatting

Trackplus makes it easy for you to create textual descriptions and add comments. You do not have to learn a Wiki Markup language to create formatted text.

Trackplus offers rich text descriptions with tables, enumerations, and many other formatting features you know from text processing tools. Formatting is done similar to Word or OpenOffice, with a very light learning curve. Most formatting can also appear in the reports.

Simple configuration

You can use Trackplus right out of the box, but to make best use of it you need to customize it. You can interactively, with little effort create your own workflows and input masks. You do not have to be a software expert to adapt the system to your needs.

You can create flexible input mask layouts, not just lined up fields top down. You can configure masks visually using the drag & drop features of the mask editor. You can have any number of panels and tabs.

Most configuration items like attributes, input masks, and workflows are organized hierarchically. This permits you to propagate changes from a central point across all projects, without having to configure each project individually.

Easy creation of report templates

Creating reports is a main activity in project management. Trackplus offers a powerful reporting engine based on the widely used reporting software JasperReports. This software works with freely configurable templates to define content and appearance of reports.

You can create or modify such templates yourself, without the need for any programming. To this end we provide you with a powerful interactive template editor that gives you pixel perfect control over the appearance of your reports.

Measure project progress objectively

When you want to use a task management system for project progress monitoring it does not suffice to provide an estimate for the remaining work.

We have implemented in Trackplus the Earned Value Method. Without any noteworthy extra effort you receive an objective and actual status of project progress. This way you can recognize early when things don't run according to plan, and you can react proactively.

In Trackplus, working with the earned value method does not require to enter estimates on the degree of completion for your work. You just set the status to "completed" once a task is completely done, and Trackplus takes care of the rest.

Issue hierarchies

Trackplus supports deeply nested task hierarchies. This way you can easily structure and manage large amounts of tasks. You can see and manipulate the task hierarchy in the issue overview, similar to a folder structure.

Hierarchy is a standard way to manage complexity. Missing support of real hierarchies severely restricts the usability of a task management system, once team size grows.

RACI matrix method

Trackplus supports the RACI matrix method. This includes the four-eye-principle for each work item and a sophisticated information flow. You will get exactly the information you need, not more and not less.

The RACI method assigns to team members one or more of the four roles "Responsible", "Accountable", "Consulted" und "Informed". You can map information flow and access permissions for each of these roles independently.
